MLO 2 Presents linguistic study to bilingualism, especially Spanish in the US, and how Spanish is spoken/written differently by various social groups and in various Spanish-speaking countries My first year at CSUMB I took linguistic classes that helped me with my Spanish to be more professional while talking. These classes have helped me to be more comfortable talking in interviews and even in classes. Taking these classes also helped me learn about my work getting to know my major. I would have to talk in front of the class every week about a different topic each time. The first time it started with five minutes and every time it would go up to five minutes. I would get scared when we got to 30 minutes talking because I would say what am I going to talk for 30 minutes or just the fact that it would make me nervous to be up in the class for that long. However, the experience was not bad at all. My topic was about climate change, so I had a lot to talk about. I first started with being very nervous. I was scared I would be able to know what to say if I forget what I had to say, what if i go blank and my voice does not sound good. However, when you are in front of many people, if you are a very nervous person, you don't necessarily have to look the public in the eyes. You can pretend doing eye contact by looking at their forehead or at the wall or even by looking at everyone could help. I thought that the time of 30 minutes would take a very long time but if you know what you are talking about your topic is interesting or if you know how to combine information the time would pass by very fast. This was a very fun experience for me because I got up getting scared and nervous and got back being more comfortable with myself speaking with the whole class because it's like that fear went away.
