Integrative Narrative
I chose the Spanish major because it’s part of me from where I come from. Spanish is part of my culture, my first language. Since I was younger I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to become a Spanish teacher . I have always loved working with children and being in bilingual classes have helped me so much . My first language is Spanish and as an older sibling I had no one to help me with my English at home. However, being in a bilingual classroom helped me in school not feeling out of place. I would learn English but feeling comfortable I was able to still speak Spanish. Throughout the years I still had the goal for my major to be a teacher. When I went to High school and took my first Spanish courses I fell in love with the courses I was taking . The reading I found so interesting was reading about the author Francisco Jimenez and I felt so connected to his books coming from an immigrant family and being an immigrant myself I had so many connections with his books. I would also read Casa en mango Street. I just fell in love with the culture behind every spanish reading and the history we would learn from it . I just knew this is what I wanted to do, I had fun with it . I learned so much history. My Spanish teacher from high school Mrs. Martines inspired me to become a Spanish teacher. I wanted to teach a class like her, she was fun . interested, she knew how to explain the material, and would be very helpful throughout the course to help us do better if he had to work on it. She teaches the class in such an interesting way that it was my favorite class . In the future I would like to be like her and inspire other students like me. Something that I learned from my major is to always know where I come from. Spanish is a very important language in our culture and very beautiful to learn about. Spanish for me is very important. It helps me to express myself better. I'm very comfortable with my Spanish and I'm very proud of it. My goal is to become a Spanish teacher in High school , working with kids is one of my biggest goals. I enjoy working with kids from Elementary all the way to high school . My eras that I am more proud about being in this program is being an immigrant student following her dreams, where nothing will stop me to make my goals . Others would think it's not a good major because they think “you already know Spanish why study Spanish '' but in reality they do not understand the real Spanish behind it and what i'm really interested about. Im proud to say that im achieving my goal and i'm very proud of myself and hopefully soon to become a Spanish teacher. The eras I would like to develop in the future would be to become better in Spanish. And to be a good high school teacher inspired other students
